The answer is, you probably do not consider the particulars of safety and security while you are in the midst of your typical routine. However, you would notice suspicious activities or behaviors in your neighborhood or along your usual routes to work, school, or errands. In this manner, YOU are the very best resource in keeping your community safe. While it is true that we expect our security professionals to be trained and well-versed in how best to keep us safe, we would be remiss if we, as individual citizens, did not also take on some of the responsibility ourselves, because who knows our neighborhood or area better than ourselves, the very people living in it?

The WEAWARE+ ™ program combines technical and social cohesion. It gives everyday citizens the opportunity to interact with and get involved to counteract crime, disorder, and terrorism. The WEAWARE+ ™ program is based on crowdsourcing and crowd wisdom, thereby allowing every individual to participate and inform using latent resources from within the community. With every added user, the application of WEAWARE+ ™ becomes stronger and stronger. The WEAWARE+ ™ system is Cloud-based system with two main components, one is a computer-based training program to bring knowledge and capabilities to the people, and the second is a knowledge center that allows for communication and information exchange between citizens as well as their local security forces. The program is based on proven methodology used by SDR Search Detect React® about indicators and threats which can be applied to every environment. WEAWARE+ ™ will allow there to be a positive connection between the people and their security infrastructures and breeds a sense of trust and social cohesion within the community.
